Biopsy and Excision Minor Surgery

Biopsies:

If you require a Biopsy, a small part of the lesion will be removed under local anaesthetic for study by a pathologist in order to make a diagnosis.

Most biopsies don’t require stitches and will be covered by a dressing.

Excisions:

The complete removal of a suspicious skin cancer or lesion. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. The lesion is removed and then sent off to a pathologist for further examination.

Once removed you will most likely require stitches to close the wound.
