Ultherapy is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that uses microfocused ultrasound energy at selected depths beneath the skin’s surface.
In suitable patients, it may improve the appearance of mild to moderate skin laxity in approved treatment areas. Results vary, and a consultation is required to assess suitability and discuss potential benefits, limitations, alternatives, risks and costs.
Ultherapy uses ultrasound imaging to assist the practitioner in viewing tissue beneath the skin and selecting the appropriate treatment depth. Microfocused ultrasound energy is then delivered to the treatment area.
The treatment settings and expected response depend on the area being treated and the individual patient. Ultherapy is not equivalent to a surgical facelift.
Ultherapy is not suitable for everyone. Suitability depends on factors including the patient’s medical history, skin condition, degree of skin laxity, treatment area, implanted devices and individual goals.
A consultation is required to determine whether treatment may be appropriate. Previous cosmetic procedures or surgery must be disclosed during the consultation.
The number of treatments recommended will depend on the individual assessment and response to treatment. Some patients may notice gradual changes over the months following treatment, while others may not achieve a noticeable improvement.
The timing, extent and duration of any result vary between patients. Additional or maintenance treatments may be discussed where appropriate, but no particular result or duration can be guaranteed.
Depending on the individual assessment and the device’s approved indications, Ultherapy may be used to improve the appearance of mild to moderate skin laxity or lines in selected treatment areas.
Treatment sensations vary and may include heat, tingling, tenderness or discomfort while ultrasound energy is delivered.
Temporary effects may include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, welting, tingling, numbness or altered sensation. Less common complications may also occur. The severity and duration of these effects vary between patients.
The practitioner will discuss relevant risks, contraindications, preparation and aftercare before treatment.
